"World Wide Mind", by Michael Chorost, 2011
Author Michael Chorost's new 2011 book is titled "World Wide Mind: the Coming Integration of Humanity, Machines, and the Internet". (Probably) in somewhat sensationalistic language, Mr. Chorost writes about the merger of real people's lives with the virtual lives and their Internet interactions with more and more useful machines in their lives that are or will be connected to the Internet. Source: Public Radio International, 11.04.10 Sunday audio program. Audio Program Length: about 12-13 minutes.

"Beyond Boundaries", by Dr. Miquel Nicolelis, 2011
"Beyond Boundaries: The New Neuroscience of Connecting Brains with Machines---and How It Will Change Our Lives" by Dr. Miquel Nicolelis summarizes in lay person's language his and other researchers research in the brain-computer-machine connection. Dr. Nicolelis primarily researches brain activities using one of the lab's favorite monkys, Arora. His lab is one of the few cognitive science plus brain function labs which have created ape-to-computer-to-machine interfaces such that, in at least one experiment, the ape ceases using one of their real arms because they can use a mechanical arm more easily to get the same rewards.

Public Radio International (PRI) broadcast a book author interview program on 11.04.10 in which the authors of three new 2011 books present their summary of their book's contents. The books, cited elsewhere on this web site, are about the emerging human-computer interface with and without the use of the Internet. BookPicks.com: very low cost books as long as you want them
For several years prior to 2011, the City and County of San Francisco (CCSF) has subsidized small businesses through it's JobsNow1 and JobsNow2 programs. CCSF pays $5000 to subsidize the wages paid by small business employers to hire and train on-site new employees for several months. Book Picks is such a small business. It has a lending library catalog online and 1+ warehouses of books, from which students and readers of any age can request a book. The book, or books, is shipped to the requester who can retain the book as long as they need it for a small fee. At this writing, 11.04.14, it is premature to guess if Book Picks will gradually increase offering rental and online use of the same material as eBooks as the digital copies become available.

WhichBook.net: help choosing books to read
WhichBook.net "gives readers an intuitive way to find books to match their mood using innovative software." In effect this 'innovative software' most likely is an early very much simpler approximation of artificially intelligent software that determines an individual's tastes (or preferences) in literature, their reading level, and perhaps their learning abilities as well. This site and it's services have not yet been rated or assessed in comments or articles on this web site.

eHow: How to pick a book
This article on eHow.com offers some suggestions to the self-paced learner or to the care-takers of home schooled children about how to choose a book to read. The article presents 7 very simple-looking steps to follow. However in this PI's opinion, book selection is actually a very involved and perhaps should be a very thoughtful process. To elaborate on some of these selection issues, appended to the article are four web links and summaries of the targeted web sites. There are also on this article page other links without summaries to additional helpful book selection web sites.

"The Smartest Kids in The World" book: list of persons interviewed
This is the "beginning" few pages of the book "Smartest Kids in The World: and how they got that way" by Amanda Ripley, Simon and Schuster press, (c) 2013. The list on this web page is of the "Principle Characters," students, teachers, administrators, whom Ms. Ripley interviewed for the book. On the Amazon Kindle eBook's web page there is a "Try a Sample" link to other excerpts from the book. The samples are FREE to read. But they are of unknown length and chapter selections at this writing. See also the PBS Newshour interview of 13.09.23 with Ms. Ripley in the "Trends in Education" web link category.
