NPR News of Monday, December 24, 2012 (12.12.24) presented this audio story about some young women in Kenya, Africa, who became computer programmers and have been creating cell phone 'apps" that help their community. It seems that early in the second decade of the 21st Century, Kenya and some other African countries have 100s of miles of fiber-optic Internet cable installed and some of the best and fastest access to the Internet in the world. In the case of Kenya, major US and global technology companies now have offices in the country employing some of these self-taught and highly motivated African men and women.
