Raptivity
Raptivity software is a for-a-fee system with a 14 day free trial-use. The "core system" costs between $3220 and $4995 (US$); add-on modules cost between Raptivity creates 35+ interactive networked eLearning computer games. The game author, who is also an instructional designer, creates the learning experiences within the computer game context, choosing from 225+ built-in learning interactions. No programming skills are required. The students who use the resulting computer game interact with the game and with each other in the context of the game in order to achieve the goals of the game. However to succeed in the game, the students must demostrate their understanding and mastery of instructor-defined learning domain knowledge and skills. As Raptivity game authoring creates an Adobe Flash module as output, a Raptivity module can "fit into" (be used by students from within) another "host" eLearning tool which accepts Flash modules, such as Moodle. Raptivity learning results are SCORM and AICC compliant.

eReader software (iTunes) from KoboBooks.com
KoboBooks.com is also Indigo Books and Music. The Apple iTunes software includes eReader software. iTunes is downloadable from KoboBooks.com as well as from Apple.com. However the Kobo eReader software -- which you have to use iTunes to download -- comes in at least 3 versions: (1) for the Kobo eReader, (2) for SmartPhones, and (3) (iTunes?) for tablets, netbook, notebook, laptop, and desktop computers. jw100626

The eBrary eBook reader plugin for IE, FF, etc.
The eBrary digital eBook reader is a plug-in (i.e. a downloaded and added-on bundle of special purpose computer code) for Internet Explorer, FireFox and the other top 5 web browser programs. eBrary.com offers their eBrary plug-in and their eBook web hosting system to educational institutions and departments. At SF State U, the PI's alma-mater, one downloads it from http://0-site.ebrary.com.opac.sfsu.edu/support/plugins/ebraryReader.xpi . And there are other similar URLs to web pages at SFSU which are necessary 'support' web pages for the eBrary system. SFSU IT people needed to install and make available online all of these pages and specialized software so their students and alumni can use these 'fire-walled' digital books.

Adobe AIR software
Comments in (xx) are mine (the PI's). Quoting from the AIR web site: "The Adobe® AIR® runtime (software) enables (software) developers to use HTML, JavaScript, Adobe Flash® software, and ActionScript® to build mobile and desktop (computer) web applications that run as standalone client applications without the constraints of a (web) browser (like Internet Explorer or FireFox, etc.). Adobe AIR and the Adobe Flash Platform unleash the creativity of designers and developers by providing a consistent and flexible development environment for the delivery of applications across devices and platforms. Support for additional platforms, including (Google's) Android (smart phone), (as of July 2010) is under development."

DevX: Review of Adobe Flash Media Server 4
On Sept. 10, 2010, DevX.com reviewed Adobe Flash Media (digital streams) Server 4 (AFMS4) with which small, medium, and large businesses -- and educational institutions -- can build their own proprietary, secure, digital audio and video streaming services for their users; for education that would be for the administration, staff, faculty, and students. Of course "third party" developers will be "adopting" AFMS4 in coming months and years to use to build "turn-key" proprietary, commercial, communications systems for these different kinds of organizations, their unique work (and educational) processes, and their end-users special needs. You may have to register (free) to use this web site.
