USteam.TV
UStream.tv appears to be a one way online live video stream "broadcast" service. I.e. true video conferencing my not be possible. (Need to confirm this.) At this first writing I, the PI, do not know what costs are involved. However if one is to be an audience member, there is no cost. One must "show up" (hit the web site URL) on time, and register on the service -- which is very quick and easy to do. I suspect once registered I will get emails about subsequent video presentations that I am interested in. When running on your web browser, there is a large video window with an equal sized text chat window next to it so that audience members can make comments during the presentation.

HotConference.com
HotConference.com started in Toronto, Canada in the early 2000s. I has been a rather good, low-cost, video conferencing service anyone can rent to use as a presenter. Attendees to the conference must know when the conference is to start and end and "show up" online on-time. They 'login' to the service and the particular online "conference room" with their own name and an optional password. Several "room moderators" can switch being the main presenters. THE ONLY DRAW BACK OF THIS SERVICE IS THAT IT ONLY WORKS ON WINDOWS PCS !!! See GVOConference.com for the vendor's platform independent version.

GVOConference.com
GVOConference.com is the 2010 upgrade to the several years old, Windows PC-only, HotConference.com conferencing system started in Toronto, Canada in the early 2000s. The organization and technical facilities moved to San Antonio, Texas, USA about 2008 to get higher bandwidth and build their own high capacity "server farm" in their own new building. I have used this service for many years. It has been a rather good, low-fixed-cost, video conferencing service which anyone can rent to use as a presenter. Attendees to the conference must know when the conference is to start and end and "show up" online on-time. They 'login' to the service and the particular online "conference room" with their own name and an optional password. Several "room moderators" can switch being the main presenters. The GVOConference UPGRADED service works on any PC or laptop, even on PDAs and smart phones that accept "Flash" in their web browser. See also the older Windows-only HotConference.com service.
