The New York Times Education section of April 4, 2013 (13.04.04) announced in this article that researchers at M.I.T and Harvard University in Cambridge, MA, have created an artifically intelligent computer program that will grade college level essay examinations. This achievement has been a "Mount Everest" of a hurdle for Computer Scientists to acomplish for at least the last 35-40 years. In the 1980s Computer Based Instruction was available to students using a mainframe computer, a mini-computer and even the brand new rather primitive personal computers. All these devices were able to offer students of any grade true-false, ranked-choice, multiple choice questions and match-the-columns tests. Until now only a course instructor or a teaching assistant for the course (usually a previous graduate of the course) was able to read and grade a student's written essay exam.
