Off-Site Web Link Research and Submission of Weblinks To This Web-Site

As of: 10.08.06

The would-be weblink submitter must first find "suitable" web sites and articles on the Internet.  Then a.s.a.p. s/he must make notes about the story and where to find the audio, or video, or a transcript of it on the Internet.  Then s/he must confirm that story is on the Internet where it ought to be.  Then s/he must copy-and-paste the URL to that web site and web page from her or his browser program's "link address" bar (top of the window) into, say, a word processing program file.  In more detail:

  1. Monitor radio, television, cable television and online (Internet) news reports which might announce an opinion, research, business deals, etc. which you believe can influence the emergence and improvement of distance learning on the Internet positively or negatively.  JUST spend as much time doing the monitoring as is a normal part of your daily routine, but paying more attention to "distance learning" stories.
  2. Write down, preferably in a word-processed file on your laptop, what are the story titles and what are the complete (absolute) web links (URLs) to them.
  3. Write down with the story title and the link, a summary description of what the story is about and, if you can do so briefly, why it is important to add to this web site.
  4. When "ready", login to this web site, go to the "add link" area, and add the story title, link to the story, and the summary description of the story.
  5. Select an appropriate "link category" for the link.
  6. SAVE the new web link.
  7. Use your web browser to go to www.weblearningtools.org -> Web Links and see if you just-submitted web link appears.  If not return to step 4 and "fix" the problem.
  8. If you cannot "fix" the problem or perform steps 4-6, send an email with your information to the web-maestra of this web site, i.e. to me, the PI, JGW.

Alternatively especially if you are an educator who reads the online news and magazines web-pubished especially for the consumption of educators and education administrators, note the "distance learning" articles you think are appropriate to cite on this web site.  Submit them to this site as in steps 4-6 above.

Thank you for helping!
